46. Stalemate

My mind is a palace and a scary place to hide;
During the day, it's my escape, and at night, passions die.
The void in my head says to let go of reality;
But if I choose let go, it's a one-way ticket, proof of mortality.
The days grow longer with every impulsive thought;
The ones that tell me I'm no good, they dream of my naught.

Each morning I wake, I quickly give thanks;
But every second to minute, the burdens amount like deadweight.
Each morning I rise, I quickly give praise;

as she bled in silence

I used to believe I was the only one
bleeding in silence
while everyone else’s wounds were healed
until I truly saw her.

I noticed when she smiled,
her eyes were elsewhere,
I noticed when looking at them closely
you could see the storm
threatening just beyond the surface
