Dear Ex

Dear Ex,
I've finally moved on
From all the lies you told
The pleasure you offered was poison to life
The shadow of myself you were
But I've come into light

The fragrance of resistance

Let us overgrow your (bloodsoaked) gardens
If every leaf is defiance
Let us bring shade onto your (scorched) streets
If every branch is guidance
Let us illuminate your (demolished) freeways
If every crop and tree is a witness
Let us replant your (blackened) fields
Though they crushed your sweet fruits
The world has now tasted your fragrance

Freely flowing
Unwilling to be chained
Unwilling to be tamed.
She has set out on a solitary journey
This time by cutting off

Shoved down her throat
