Who’s Gonna Save Your Soul?
by Kevin Schroeder

In a smoky room, where the shadows play,
You’re searching for direction, lost along the way.
The devil grins, whispering sweet lies,
Promising glory wrapped in disguise.

Who's gonna save your soul tonight?
The preacher with his holy light?
The politician with his silver tongue?
Or the celebrity, forever young?
Is it the singer with a heart full of pain?

A High-jacked Mind
by Montaigne Foxcroft

Learning
Yearning
Tossing and Turning
What is the point of anything if this world will end up burning?
We turn serious matters into a joke
To some folk the air they breath
Is the thing on which they choke
The book of life, so to speak, specifies not to be "unequally yoked"
Does not this same book read that love bears all things?
Where is the line, who's to say that we actually understand the construct of time

My soul questions you...
by Nupur Gautam

When the sun sets will you be my moon?
Will you be my rainbow in the monsoon?
When I act childish will you bring me candy and balloon?
Will you help me open up to this world when I hide in a little cocoon?

When life seems to be weighing me down will you lift me up in your arms?
Will you help me calm down when my over-scrutinizer brain rings all the false alarms?
When I drown in misfortune will you be one of my lucky charms?

When you touch the petals of my soul will you cause them to blossom with care?

What could I've ever asked for?
by Rushali Sarfare

What could I've ever asked for?

As I laid naked in the scorching sun,
Burning flesh with agony,
Pain to ablaze strongest cords,
Deciphering which hurts most.
Was its eyes?
Or ears?
Was it skin?
Or was it the throat?

Where Do Broken Dreams Go?
by Emmanuel Ojex

Where I ask, do they go?

do they wash down life upon the River Nile?
or hover around the sky hoping; someone someday, shall find?

do they lay on the floor, naked and bare,
looking for one, on them to wear

or do they return to the Maker,
to be reborn with another, later?

Why do people, people?
by kyra turner

Why do people treat people the way they do?
Why do people ignore each other?
Why do people love who they love?
Why do people hate who they hate?
Why do people disown families?
Why do people drink?
Why do people do bad things?
Why do people get themselves into jail?
Why do people lie?
WHY DO PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY DO?

What I know
by Kombe Sakwe Kofi

I believe in slavery,
Christ could never enslave me,
Studied lies, truth came with bravery,
In the beginning was no Adam nor Eve,
Cowries or pearls Judas will trade me,
Embrace my fate, finish line is calvary,
29, I keeping asking myself questions.
