Bitter, battered, bruised and spent
Throwing punches aimed to dent,
Bobbing, weaving, sighing loud,
Gladiators playing to the crowd.
Armed with words that cut like steel
Inflicting wounds that won't fast heal,
Nostrils flaring, bulging eyes,
Parrying blows with stifled sighs.

A Friendly Fire
A modest home with embers sitting below a fresh set pyre is the scene where our events transpire. There they burn but are not a fire. Though the right mix of wood and air is all that they require. For wood and air and heat conspire. When together they consume entire.
At a table two men sit in that low hue one of forty three and one of thirty two. Whiskey bottles and a can of chew sets the atmosphere I transcribe to you. Of malice you would find no clue for they wore happy masks while their irritation grew. A friendly discussion within this place fans the flames of unbridled hate.
Freedom, peace and an independent mind is my values entirely defined. You talk of slavey, war and indoctrination with intellectual names beyond your station. Who are you to question a nation a labourer with a poor mans education. Surely you haven’t the faculty of interpretation to understand these ideals which you give such adulation. That is why I disagree spoke the man of forty three.
The embers just then caught anew light flame in the hearth flew. Radiant light added an ominous glow though little heat did it through. Feeble flames danced and withdrew across the wooden surface it slowly chew. The sense of comfort that a flame may bring isn’t true for all things does fire undo.

A man has kidnapped two people and is demanding 50 million for their safe return.
But people have discovered who the two hostages are and they are not concerned.
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the two people who have been kidnapped.
People won't give a plug nickel for the safe return of those two pieces of crap.
Clinton and Trump won't be coming home any time soon, they are trapped.
If somebody does pay the ransom, he or she will certainly deserve to be slapped.
So many lives destroyed by greed
Too many hungry mouths to feed.
The rich blame the poor for being lazy and feckless
The poor blame the rich for being greedy and reckless.
The wealthiest hide funds in offshore accounts
The poor must work harder for meagre amounts
People are divided so the markets may prosper
Whilst queues at foodbanks continue to grow longer

There once was a brash billionaire

Why do politicians lie
And our wallets deftly pry,
Puff and bluster all the time
Their intent to cheat sublime.
Are we dumb or just naive
Of that talent to deceive,
Smiles aplenty to go round
While broken promises abound.
......
take what you want and own who you can
but make sure to reel them in before they're a man
make up excuses to spend all our funds
then hide behind your desks and wait for the guns
but lie to us all, everything's alright
just as long as you can sleep at night
make sure to look pretty and put on your mask
divert us away from the questions we ask
stand on your stage and welcome your fans
just make sure you see the camera before you shake hands

America, the land of silent classrooms,
where freedom takes aim in open hallways.
They say the enemy of my enemy is my friend,
but when she strides in with stars in her eyes,
her trauma buried beneath her skin,
and blood staining the black leather of her boots,
who does she fight for now?
I raise my hand high, trembling,
