45. For My Authoritarians (2)

I feel like a dog on a leash, nailed to the ground in your yard.
How is it my happiness dictates your profane and wicked ways?
Your hearts are like water, shifting like your states of minds.
One moment you're warm and fluid, and the next you're cold and stone.
Although we don’t see eye to eye, there is such a thing as compromise.
Your authority almost killed me the first time around.
How are you so blind-sighted to all the times you've let me down?
So, the next time you ask me why I don't want to stay,
Maybe you'll look back and finally acknowledge your mistakes before it's too late.

All you told were lies,
And I hid behind the wall I built while you were telling me how good I made you feel.

All I did was try and please your appetite,
But your ego was droughty and left me for dead with only evaporites.

All we were was just a summertime's fun,
Because we bought into the scam of 'you only live once'.

Of all the cultures there are to experience and all the lessons we have to learn,
