The Tales of Halloween
by Tammy Darby

It’s Hallows eve in the underworld
Conjuring up an orange clouded moon
On a raven song night
Witches ride cold gales
On rope tied magical brooms

The glowing jagged mouth pumpkins
With flickering candle yellow eyes
Stare out of noisy houses
As goblins abound

Autumn Joy and Nostalgia
by Evelyn Judy Buehler

Orange blooms at dusk
goblins in the pumpkin patch
rich fall's come again

ghosts haunt dark cool nights
scarecrows wave in harvest fields
sad trees weep colors

devils on doorsteps
trick or treat candy cane lane

In A Witches Eye
by Tammy Darby

Tis a full blood moon
Shining in a witches eye
The damned winds blow crossways
As the hour draws nigh

The ghosts rattle their wispy chains
Soulless red smiling demons scream
The night of all nights poltergeists whisper
Haunting voices that cannot be seen

Black Cat Night
by Evelyn Judy Buehler

It's a black cat Halloween night. Meow!
Sleek and lurking in the moonlight. Wow!
And they turn an inquisitive yellow eye,
When the little ghosts and goblins go by.

Ebony night, pitch black and gleaming,
Monsters visit on a night that's dreaming,
And everywhere black cats, as if on cue,
As devils and witches make a hullabaloo!

Dressed to Chill
by Evelyn Judy Buehler

A huge yellow moon is glimmering, and a chill wind's in ghostly trees.
This night was made for magic, so we'll get dressed in our very best!
Sable black lipstick for me, and a smoky gray for my brooding eyes,
And lovely rosy red makeup for you, crowned by a silky, orange wig.
The obsidian night is still very young, and we will be gone for hours,
Like juicy fruit patiently ripening, in locations of sunshine and green.
My sleek, midnight black dress, and matching pointy hat, will be a hit,
And your red nose and bright polka dots, will be the height of fashion!
Crows are cawing, the cats are screeching, and bats are flying north-
The luxurious party is waiting, and will be filled with the best dressed.

A Creature of Three Heads
by Ujjal Mandal

That night the moon was not distinct.
I had to stop my cart in the forest,
not enough light to run.
It was then midnight.
I felt sleepy and at sudden a
bleary figure passed by me;
I made a quick run to and fro but fell—
and I heard someone came flying on
the skeletal branches—
a dark bird of three heads eating

JACK O' LANTERN

In a quiet seaside town

Where nothing ever seemed to go down

The leaves were turning November

On a day that was one to remember

Fraidy Cat
by Evelyn Judy Buehler

Halloween night, a slender flapping scarecrow,
With the remorseless wind, he's doing a tango,
An owl is hooting, and large yellow eyes glow,
A witch in black is cackling, in deeper shadow.

Jack-o'-lantern grinning wildly in the window,
Dark night carries sounds of a ghostly bellow,
Blind bats are flying, a yellow moon is mellow,
There seem to be monsters wherever you go!
