The creek was cool beneath the sun,
Its waters sparkled, our laugh begun.
We dove and splashed in endless play,
Wolf Creek kept the heat at bay.

Golden Gate’s diamond called our names,
Where dust flew wild in epic timeless games.
The crack of the bat, the cheers, the grin,
Moments carved deep, where dreams begin.

Her winds still whisper names forgotten,
And her rivers now hum hymns of home’s embrace.
Chimney tops rise, silent like prayers unanswered,
And cracked cobbles mutter stories of long ago.
Still held together by time’s drystone hands,
The home we once knew, now overthrown.

Now, not a place of darkness and gloom,
As strangers still believe.
Nor a land of milky tea-stained dreams,

In the shadow’s veil, beauty lay concealed
Unseen by those who walk the hurried way
The moonlight whispers secrets softly sealed
While shadows dance, the night turns pale and gray

A fragile bloom awaits the dawn's embrace
Its petals cloaked in night’s cold, tender shroud
Yet beauty thrives in such a quiet place
A truth unveiled when hearts no longer cloud
