Limericks by Michael R. Burch
by Michael R. Burch

These are limericks by Michael R. Burch, along with limerick-like poems and poems written in limerick meter. This limerick collection contains double limericks, a rare triple limerick, and a new version of the double dactyl that I invented, called the "dabble dactyl."

Light Verse by Michael R. Burch
by Michael R. Burch

Light verse goes by a variety of names, including light poetry, humorous verse, humorous poetry and (sometimes) nonsense verse, children's verse and doggerel. Humorous poetic forms employed here include limericks, double dactyls, heroic and not-so-heroic couplets, puns, epigrams, parodies and one-liners. I even have a section of humorous haiku translations of the Oriental masters Basho and Issa, with my hopefully humorous reply to Basho's famous frog poem. Categories include: Animal poems, Dog poems (we have had up to seven canine members of our family), Nature poems, Children's poems, Political limericks, Scientific limericks, Subversive poems about God and Religion, and X-Rated Limericks (last on the page).
