I may be a little cynical
A merchant of dreams
Never reluctant to promise forever
Inclined to harm those I vowed to never
What can I say?
Promises are meant to be broken
Shattered vows are basically a cliché
......
I think I’ve sat here pondering long enough
Coaxing my ego through one more day
Some old car with new paint drifts by
Painting the window in a murky spray
A stage of fumbling critics
and young hopefuls prowl behind
I think I will not meet them today
Nor let them wait, I’m not that kind
Let lice and time ravage old corduroy
......
What are we?
Damaged souls,
Museums for lost innocence?
Experiences’ consequence ?
Looking through wise eyes
Yet it still eludes us.
What is it?
That we fail to recognise
In seasonal soulmates
......
futile infinity, entropic, crawls down my wretched throat,
the hymns of the choir have soured and I am utterly alone,
the crucifix that once seared my skin lies in the ashes of my home,
the lord's altar has scorned me, I stand among his disciples and I am alone.
oh, lord, why hast thou forsaken me in my darkest hour?
is it mercy or grace you lack, because they assure me of your power,
I peel the rotting bandages from my ravaged wrists,
I was never as broken as when they finally called me fixed.
