In Praise of Soft Light
by Richard Randolph

I like soft light best,
candles and moonlight.
Such light always overlooks a blemish
to highlight the deeper beauty-
the sparkle in one's eye,
the glow of a fire, the contours of the night.
It's not concerned with getting to some final truth,
but instead, naturally gregarious, invites us to talk
of our dreams, our aspirations, indeed anything,
usually over a glass of burgundy,

You're My Deep Breath
by Frangipani Rhett

Today my child slammed the door too hard
And I took a deep breath and thought of you
You set the standard for how to show love
And so I shifted towards compassion

Last Sunday I met up with a friend for coffee
And she talked for so long, I got bored
I took a deep breath and thought of you
And remembered the presence you gave me

It's in your Beautiful DNA
by Arvin Dassad

Mark my words, less they be lost amongst the echoes of time.

Listen to the measures and cadence of my tone as I tell thee, the most utmost truth.

Bind me to the earth, so I might live amongst your prenumbra, just those fleeting corners

The negative space of your x- ray could suffice, to surround you so fleeting,

We all lurch, so very systemically,
Flaying ourselves unto the abyss, endlessly, pointlessly,

“No Loitering”
by Drew Schoenfeld

The sign says “No Loitering”

But I don’t mind you soft strangers,
shuffling in mute,
meeting solace in the morning sun.

Its warmth on your shoulders
feels a little bit like love.

I know we’re always swimming in dirt and pretending we’re not.

Homeless
by Sharon Morgan

I see you every morning after stepping off my train;
I hear you beg for money, and I have pangs of guilt again
Although I do not know you, I go by what I see
Are you a drunkard or an addict?
Or just homeless with nowhere to be?

I really shouldn’t judge you
You could once have been like me
Loved, cherished, respected, I do not know your history
No doubt you must be lonely,

Compassion
by The Project Of Decadence

For Compassion and Understanding,
I don't accept any call
I am trapped into an infernal loop where i am misunderstood with a Provider
As soon as i am covered by the sound of words
I wonder, what should i sacrifice, what do i own
Me myself under this position, would only be able to demand for Compassion and Understanding
I myself, did not make, I
But have been made
I have been watered like a flowered to get where i got
I have never asked to be here, therefore

Neglect
by Michael R. Burch

These are poems about the homeless and the downtrodden, and poems about the need for compassion, kindness, understanding and tolerance.

Neglect
by Michael R. Burch

What good are your tears?
They will not spare the dying their anguish.
What good is your concern
to a child sick of living, waiting to perish?

The Tear of the Archangel Michael
by drake brown

Michael turned down to look upon the faces of humanity, stricken with grief.
For he saw not only the man, but the woman, the daughter.
Flowing and dancing in the waist high grass that dances alongside her, as much stars as she is the earth. Unaware of what she is dancing into.
The brother, his eyes scrunched together imitating the anxieties of society as he focuses on the task of good and evil. He must prevail, he has seen what happens to men when they fail.
The mother, looks up from her book to see her children no longer around her in love. Feeling the sudden heartbreak she always ran away from.
The father, pulled out his own eyes long ago, stumbling blind for years because he was made powerless by a world he doesn’t understand.

The sun, who continuously pours out all the light it has, is a continuous shining beacon for all.
