Pomelo
by Kimani Hare

An even thicker rind of bitter pith,

Estranged from the serenity that lies outside its comprehension.

For what resides within is a supple flesh dissonant to its confines,

Exuding a sweet nectar that remains clothed in the abstract.

But the bitter fruit thrives in its circumstances.

Just Breathe
by Brandon Gumz

Breathe in: 1, 2, 3, 4
Hold Breath: 1, 2, 3, 4
Breathe out: 1, 2, 3, 4
Hold: 1, 2, 3, 4, then repeat
It is easy to breathe, but
Is it easy to just take a breath?

Europa
by Oliver Foreman

Upon the skies; past heaven - untold.
Beyond (of war) the planet of death.
A cosmic crystal began to mold.
Not Cyllene, Nor Titan, Europa's breath.

The surface, of the frozen, shall cool even you.
But beneath her crust roars a blazing paradise -
Fules fires within, past the cold winter hue.
Many species could rest, they're bound to melodize
Of great lives, they must live, and I'm sure they wonder too.

Feather
by Leo McManus

Feather-light and soft,
Drifting gently on the breeze,

And all the way down,
to the bottom of your heart?

Voice of the Voiceless
by Ayatullah Nurjati

In twilight’s fading glow, a voice stirs unseen,
It is the song of those from shadows gleaned.
They Walk with broken backs, hands worn and bruised,
Society’s edges, abandoned and used.

Is justice but a whispered prayer in the dark?
Or does it stand, a flame, a fierce spark?
To the powers that sleep in golden halls,
Hear now the cry from those who crawl.

The Outcome
by Nkwachukwu Ogbuagu

Calm.
Grinding gently the ingredients of patience.
The somnolent waves mourn.

There are no tunnels under the seas,
But vistas cut open through
Creeping lights foreshadowed by the
Debris of epochal wrecks.

Calm.

Empty Chest
by Kailey Norris

I feel my heartbeat through an empty chest,
Calm is a state of mind.
A state of being.
Physically, calmness is the ability to block the mind,
Focus on slow breaths and smooth heartbeats.
