Chained gaze.

The checker, tasked with guarding his resources, never sees that he’s lost his own sanity.

He peers through chains wrapped around his gaze, unaware of the lock behind him he mistakes it for a crown, something to cherish, not break.

His resources don’t judge his dependence, they pity the ideals he clings to, He feeds and trades with them, blind to how they strengthen his chains.

If only he knew, If only he saw that the very things he nourishes bind him, Perhaps, he would stop, But the chains have long since reshaped his sight.
