His help
by Jacoline Boer

When she came too close for me to handle,
when I wished she would leave,
when I wished there was something else I could think of but she filled my brain with her eve,
when she consumed my thoughts and told me she loved me,
when I was alone and broken of heart,
when she was the one in my mind.
He would take over my thoughts,
he would tell me to rid me off of this awe.
He would tell me he was better,
he would tell me he could fill my heart with joy instead of the evilness off her presence.

Drunk tank
by Lee Grabbe

I'm whirling
Whirling
There's this taste
So foreign on my tongue
Though sweet
The world zips past
Me
Whirling
You
An anchor in my dizzying

Drinking With Satan
by Jeffrey Pipes Guice

Passed out on the damp concrete stairs...
Along Lake Pontchartrain...
Surrounded by empty gin bottles...
Remembering nothing but my first name...

As I rubbed my bloodshot eyes...
Seeing nothing at all but red...
As Satan’s wicked minstrels play loudly...
Drums pounding in my throbbing head...

It’s Time To Stop
by Jeffrey Pipes Guice

Driving down the deserted highway...
Feeling depressed and very lonely...
Thinking about the family that ignores me...
Believing that I’m the one and only...

The holiday season can be hard...
For some, it’s the bluest time of the year...
To be away from your loved ones...
I wish someone would lend an ear...

She undermines your progress
Suggesting things based on what you’re weak about
You realize in her absence it was all nonsense

*****

She attacks you, she protects you
She distract you with things you don’t need
Just to get herself stronger

Intoxicated
by Ali Abdullah

I just wanna say you were thinking right
When you were sippin’ on your cheap old wine

Told me “Ali let’s get things straight
This relationship is going nowhere
And I’m afraid I’ll get attached
Then you’ll leave me for your plans”

“I don’t wanna have laughs today
And feel broken in a couple years
