A supple flower bud sprouts from the soil
Fresh, happy, determined, alive
It breathes it’s first breath of air
The sun nurtures, the rain quenches
It slowly grows day by day
Watching the people, watching the animals
Watching the other flowers form
One by one they blossom
They all grew taller, they all grew beautiful
The flower couldn’t help but wonder
When it would have the turn to be beautiful too
Underneath the dark soil
The bugs crawl, the animals live, the weeds grow
An invisible yet tight grip
Holding the flower in place
The weed holds tight
Pulling, pulling hard
Far below the bright sky, far below the warm sun
Far underneath the cold soil
The weed engulfs the flower
The life of the flower diminishes slowly
Once so fresh, once so happy, once so determined, once so alive
The flower rots, never getting it's chance to be beautiful
