The Extra Mile

Each day we were urged,
A little longer to walk.
As the wagon train rolled along.
The days were grim, so we raised our chins.
And sang a happy song

We broke our hearts, as we buried our young,
The old and not so strong
We pray each day to the Lord for strength
We didn't think of the clouds and length.
Of the roads we walked along.

The nights were short,
the days were long.
The children quiet so
no laughter or song.

We came at last to a
valley so green.
Tired and happy, what a
wonderful scene.
The prophet stood,
he wore a smile
And thanked the Lord,
for the extra mile.
