THIS crystal sapphire of the sky
Is saner far than you and I,
Who in our passions and our dreams
Run evermore to wild extremes.
The pure perfection of the sea
Lies not in mirth and tragedy;
But like the silence of the snows
In breadth of beauty and repose.
God give one moment, ere we die,
As crystal clear as the blue sky,
Serene as ocean, white as snow,
And glowing as the heavens glow.
