Trust Not To Smiles

Though smiles may be the brow be shining,
Like ivy round a ruin twining;
They but portend more sure decay,
And oft, like flow'rets bright that bloom
Above the corpse-concealing tomb,
They hide a heart to grief a prey.
Trust not to smiles; still brightest fly
The lightnings in a sable sky.
