She was just a few days old
A little bundle of joy
When her worried teenage mother
Abandoned her in the snow.
She lay there in the freezing cold
unloved, unwanted a few days old
Filled an old woman passing by
Heard her whispering little cry
She lifted her and took her home
To a little cottage on a lonely road
And called her Rose of the white white snow
She reared her up so very well
With modesty and respect for all
A childhood happy and content
The pride of the woman old and bent-
She married later on in life
And nursed the woman who saved her life
She thanked the Lord and prayed each night
For the good Samaritan with failing sight.
