Death, the eternal sleep, the final rest
The great unknown that none can best
It comes to all, both young and old
The stories it tells, are forever told
It is the end of all things great and small
A time when life fades and the curtain falls
It takes the mighty and the meek
The strong and weak, the poor and sleek
It is the end of laughter, and the end of tears
It takes away the joy, and all our fears
It comes unbidden, and often in surprise
And leaves behind, a world of sighs
Yet in its embrace, there is a certain peace
An end to all the struggles, an end to the disease
It takes away the pain, and all the sorrow
And leads us to a brighter tomorrow
For in death, there is a certain hope
A new beginning, a brand new scope
The end of one journey, and the start of another
A chance to discover, a chance to uncover
It is the final destination, the end of the road
The place where we let go of our heavy load
It is the end of the cycle, the end of the race
The place where we find our resting place
So let us not fear, the great unknown
For in death, we find a place to call our own
A place of peace, and eternal rest
A place where we can be our very best
