When we were young,
times were good, God was God,
parents were honored, sacred was sacred
and we did exactly what we were told.

When we were youths,
Our paths crossed, our hearts travelled
at the speed of love and we genuinely
promised forever to hold and to keep.

When we became of age,
We wanted freedom to do as we please.
So we dethroned God out of our hearts
and lived on our terms far from parents

Thinking we were wise, but ignorant
of the latter end, we made a mess.
We burned the bridges we crossed. We slammed
doors behind us and weaved the wrong threads.

Now after all that has occurred over the years
When you look in the mirror today,
are you someone you recognize
or the stranger you dreaded to become?
