The Coronation of Autumn

Autumn was next witnessed
Through the eyes of a coquettish October,
The somnolent month that spreads fast its
Mat of diffused pleasure.

And should there be a tendril pulse,
Let it hammer the flesh of youth, who
Witnessed through the eye of a dream
The hasty coronation of Autumn —
The crowning of promises belching
And puking on loose garments of loneliness,
Nigrescent and worn on weary,
Sweat-dyed neck....
Promises
Broken suddenly on the whited flail of
A scabrous February.

A bigoted June, poignant and incestuous,
Heaving copious sighs of battered effusion,
Smothered that flaming yolk of promise
Sworn at the verdant threshold of Deuteronomy,
Where the bald-headed Moses, old but bright-eyed,
Signed the minuscule lines of sacred scrolls.
