Magnolias bloom white and pure in the morning sun
The musical rhapsody is blue as the sky
The crowds, the cheering drift upward on high
The flags all a fluttering, the medals are gleaming
The honors are plentiful, the steamers streaming
And I, the last lonely Greek in the World
Have heard the crowds, seen the flags unfurled
Heard the bands and the beating of the drums
Limp home from my own Marathon, well run.
