I saw a most distressing sight
Driving down young street one night
A man with all his belongings by his side
No place to go, no place to reside
Cold and lonely with the saddest eyes
In my mind I heard his silent cries
Why does this happen? Where does it lead?
Men, woman and children are all in need
No one to help then nowhere to sleep
Making a bed from cardboard, out on the street
People are dying from the winters chill
Any help for the homeless, there is nil
Take a drive downtown and you will see
Your heart will sadden as mine did
Wanting to set those poor souls free
