How Far Art Thou Babylon

Crawled out the rats of a city
Lost amid the clouded night,
Where easily took he, death, a leave
To the beggars of a peddler’s plight.
How far art thou Babylon?

Perched atop the cloudless sky
The wicked mark their goal,
With fire, light, and endless wealth,
Divide they pieces of the whole.
How far art thou Babylon?

…City born of stolen trades,
Thy story now retold,
Throughout a world as old as new,
Where’s wisdom under beauty’s hold.
How far art thou Babylon?

Run ye bloody rivers here,
And daylight into darkness be,
Saith the nation newly formed,
Saith the blind who soon will see…
How far art thou Babylon.
