Sweet recollections of youth,
tiny giants in immense world.
When days were lite and slow,
birthdays scarce and Christmas distant.
Knowledge... perspective
mortality, brutal realities
swelling with years
shrinking the world.
Circling wagons faster
we round the sun.
Birthdays quick and in denial.
Holidays become a chore.
Piles of days past and prone
tower over shrinking balance.
Our eyes blink once
taking decades with them.
Packing the weight of time
we fall faster with desire
to live longer and well
in journey toward salvation...
and the obituary of orbits.
