Once on an afternoon in fall
I chanced to meet a fellow tall
He asked me to the country fair,
So off we went without a care
We walked and talked and saw the sights,
Until the day turned into night,
Ten said goodnight beneath the moon,
And vowed we'd see each other soon.
He courted me with great delight,
We saw each other every night,
And then he asked me for my hand
And on my finger placed a band.
We slipped away one sunny day,
To a little town not far away,
I married him this man of mine
And since have lived a life sublime.
