Avalon Bay

Floating on the surface of the sea
The board beneath rocking
Goggled, I gazed below
Looking into the inner watery world
One with all the creatures of the deep
And felt a shining, shimmering net
Fall silently around.
Schools of fish swam gently by
Irridescent streaks passing through
The shafts of golden rays
Thrusting through the radiant glow.
The velvet rocks below
Sheltered life that waited there
The pliant, tangled seaweed drifted
Casting shadows that lingered on my mind.
