The 1996 Yankees

The Yankees trailed in the series two games to zero
They were left for dead, the commentators said so
Could the Bronx Bombers do it? The pride of the Yankees
wouldn't let go.

Strawberry could still catch, even with a broken toe
Jeter and Girardi were hitting like a pro
Then in walked Wetteland, with four saves in a row
The yankees win the world series, hey don't you know!

All though it was nighttime, the whole city was aglow
The Yankees took their victory lap, steady and slow
"New York, New York" was the winner, the crowd let us know
With pitching and hitting, it was destiny that made it so
it was a team effort, they are our heroes!
