THE ANIMAL FARM OF OLD ORLEANS:
Improvisation 10 03 2010
Pidgin argufy eats inside spirit experience
Feeds sensed love her sentences –one pagan
time -persevering assumed fictional
wisdom -obliged memories
Wrestle electric chemistry phrases,
Beginnings, and omni-conscience faith
Praises at all times -words that parody
Farmhouse porch settings -window and
Port-fire-fly lightning bugs ignite through
Hard glass mirrors reminiscent blues sung
To meet plucked strings,
Blinking stars backbeat wound guitars,
Uplifting family meetings on children’s occasions,
Write, read, cry, or sing for social education
Chant, to the rap end of songs we cry the blues,
Spirits begin the last sensed breath taken in love,
End of lives begin -life’s truths improvised
By heart, Compose love for heirs;
The Mississippi levee fractures her rib -spills
Industrial plant pollution onto parent cemeteries
Cough earth’s blood gush of life forms priced to
Showcase greed and farm hybrids, to the run of
Sea currents, vessels carry gifts of tribute, fear
Winks from light of thunder, the roar of hungry
Lions perambulate -nights' brewing tempest
Flooding Old Orleans;
Homes and streets of organic green sunk into
The bayou -the city awash, a dirge call to grog,
Louie’s jazz elegy lifts from his bog, the dying
Crying of fear -the Orleans levee breaks
The hymen clear: the lures turn aside from
Marauding uncultivated men, day’s quiet veranda
Talk of black mistresses of reminiscent civil men,
Propertied fathers of daughters white to black
Threatened by the parole of quadroon sons,
Vanquished peace, the eternal Spirit of the poor
Expended of spiritual gifts of strength -drowns in
The slow trickle of the spiritual return of French,
African, Cajun animal farm of New Orleans.
