The Roses

Last year, yr roses bloomed so vivid
That I dreamt they knew you were finally gone
Their scent came through the front door
Into the basement, as though, they were singing
Often, I think of the day we planted them
They knew you love them
Until you were too ill to tend them
The flowers around the house know you're gone
And in honour of yr love
They bloom in ecstasy
