The First Day

The snow fell on the first day
As we walked along the road
Aimlessly, we headed downtown
Not knowing if anything was open
We found nothing except a coffee shop
As we went in, we found there was no one inside
But the owner staring at us
As though, we were creatures from outer space
For we were covered in snow
We went to the counter asked for two coffees and doughnuts
And paid sitting near the back
We were warmed from the heat of our drinks
And filled by the gigantic doughnuts
The owner came by to tell us
That it would be closing for the day
In five minutes
We went into the darkness of a winter's afternoon
As we held our hands for protection
The moonlight guided us home
