Mr. Praying Mantis, do you really pray?
Or do you take for granted
Your blessings everyday?
Do you ever thank The Lord,
For your carefree life?
Do you have some kids,
And a happy wife?
We know your light green color
In the summer bright
Is so you can catch insects,
As soon as they alight
In Fall, you change to brown
And hide upon the limbs
The color of the ground,
And eat at every whim
They say you are cruel and greedy
And even eat your own.
But the Farmer says you are needed
To help pay back the loan.
Please don't light upon me!
For it gives me such a fright
To suddenly look down and see,
Such a long and skinny sight
Mr. Praying Mantis, do you really pray?
Or do you just enjoy your life,
As you go from day to day?
