Rainfall

The rain wept over the cracked stone wall,
dripped through the glistening ivy leaves.
It covered the grass with a christening caul
and soothed the joints of creaking eaves.
Soft-scented flowers bent petals in prayer,
curling their colors in pastoral plumes.
Then, tilting my head, I tasted the air
and drank in the morning's sweet perfumes.
