One thing I started thinking about a day after my great-aunt's death

do you want to know
why Estonians are special
do you want me to tell you
they live their entire lives
next to one another
without being able to say that they
love
and when one of them dies
they call their relatives
and weep their soundless tears
into the receiver
and want to say
that they love
but they can't
they live for fifty years
or even more
under a foreign power
and still write
poems in their loony language
that's why they're Estonians
and that's why I love them
even when I can't stand them sometimes
