Julie was born and raised on the Upper West Side of New York City with a few short relocations to Los Angeles, Bermuda, and San Francisco. She is so grateful to have attended amazing arts programs such as Camp Trywoodie, French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts, The Manhattan Theater Workshop, and Laguardia High School of Music and Art. In 1989 she graduated with a BFA in dance from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where she performed in works by Doug Varone and Paul Taylor, and went on to dance professionally with Risa Jaroslow and Dancers. While leading movement groups with infants and toddlers at 92NY, Julie became interested in the field of Occupational Therapy. She is currently the High School Occupational Therapy Department Chair at Cooke School and Institute in NYC. Writing this poem was initially a procrastination from all of the other creative endeavors that await in the wings.
