For golden hair and sunlight dancing,
Beauty rare in eyes of deepest blue,
A hundred men through gates are leaving,
Priceless jewel of legend seeking,
Through perils and toils many,
Against dragons and wizards fell,
Across mighty deserts hot and scorching,
On seas swift and storming,
Rides to the heights on eagles soaring,
Climbing mountains cold and dark,
All for the love of the lady fair,
The ends of the earth are nothing passing,
To what great feats can man achieve,
If not for the pleasure of the lady?
