Jellyfish

Occasionally a crab tires of its slant-
wise ways and stowaways
on the bell of a jellyfish. The bell
pulsates as the jellyfish drifts, drifts
(in one direction and then in another,
but generally spreading slantingly)
to the rhythm of antipodal forces.
Food comes and goes; days pass.
Perhaps one day both wash ashore:
the jellyfish dies, and the crab
rediscovers a new world.
