A great beer was brewed...
Starting back in 1907...
Sent down to New Orleans...
A saintly gift from Heaven...
It was brewed in the red brick building...
In Mid City on Tulane Avenue...
75,000 barrels a year...
Plenty enough for me and you...
We came together as a city...
For all New Orleans to cheer...
So please don’t mess...
With our delicious Dixie beer...
We drank it for breakfast
We drank it for lunch...
We drank it at weddings...
And in the baptism punch...
We toasted our Saints...
The Buccaneers and the Jazz...
We even toasted the Hornets...
Without much razzmatazz...
We came together as a city...
For all New Orleans to cheer...
So please don’t mess...
With our delicious Dixie beer...
We survived the bad batch...
We supported our local brew...
It’s a part of our Southern culture...
It’s ties us together, both me and you...
It’s called Dixie for a reason...
We can’t change the name...
If it’s called something else...
It just won’t be the same...
We came together as a city...
For all New Orleans to cheer...
So please don’t mess...
With our delicious Dixie beer...
