When the kids were all fed...
And after draining the bath water...
We would all climb into my dad’s car...
And head down to the French Quarter...
My parents enjoyed all the excitement...
After working those long days...
We’d head down to Morning Call...
For chocolate milk and beignets...
Morning Call... Morning Call...
Chocolate milk and beignets...
Served with lots of powdered sugar...
Made life better in so many ways...
If you grew up in New Orleans...
Car service was the way to go...
They hooked a tray to your car window...
To serve your beignets, don’t you know...
It was a big family tradition...
Always part of our celebrations...
My parents did it when they were kids...
A tradition going back for generations...
Morning Call... Morning Call...
Chocolate milk and beignets...
Served with lots of powdered sugar...
Made life better in so many ways...
Each of us got an order...
Three beignets, never four...
Even though we were full...
It seemed we always wanted more...
We dipped our fingers in the water...
To clean the sugar off our hands...
When it came to eating beignets...
We were Morning Call’s biggest fans...
Morning Call... Morning Call...
Made life better in so many ways...
Our nightly dreams always included...
Chocolate milk and beignets...
