A transient peace, soon to be shattered
by the arrival of two miscreants,
Troublesome children
destined to disturb this ataraxic haven,
whence in I would remain
for a short while.
Brief moments of relief,
A respite from the trials of the day.
How unjust for us all;
For them, incarceration,
a cruel punishment for a crime that surely wasn’t theirs,
and for me a rude awakening,
Reality once more sets in,
Unwarranted confrontation.
