A long time ago, in a land far away,
God's people were slaves, worked hard every day.
Then God said to Moses, 'Take Aaron and go
To Pharaoh and say, 'Let them all go!''
Both men were afraid but did as God said.
Pharaoh stood tall, his robe was of red.
His soldiers drew spears, stood ready to kill,
But Moses was brave and stood very still.
Moses said, 'Our God,' (his voice very strong)
Says to stay here is wrong.
God's people must worship him. Let them go!'
Pharaoh said yes but really meant no.
At last they escaped from Pharaoh's sway.
They came to the Wilderness, far away.
At last they were free. They sang with delight,
Not knowing or caring what would happen next night.
