The Throne Of Winter

Yon heaven-aspiring peaks, imperial, lone,
That form the West's stupendous coronet,
With many a titanic jewel set,
Are Winter's high and everlasting throne
From which he holds an undisputed sway,
Silence and solitude his ministers
With Ice and Snow, before e'er disperse
Summer's invading armies in dismay.

He reigns in awe-inspiring majesty
And dazzling, chilly royal pomp and show,
Splendours august no kings nor emperors know
Upon him, where he sits eternally
Within his icy court, his jewelled hand
Clasping a sceptre glittering and grand.
