Resurrection

When one had gone away
To join the quiet dead,
Bleak, bleak for me the day,
And dark the clouds o'erhead.
'Her voice I shall not hear again,
Nor see her smile,' I said.

Yet when the Spring winds came
The sad earth to beguile,
I heard one call my name
Whose voice was lost erewhile;
And when the early violets blew,
Dear God, I saw her smile!
