If those old pews could only talk
These are the words they most likely would say
I've been kicked, glued with gum, squirmed on
Scratched and walked on by little feet
Watered by innocent babes, a desk for busy tiny hands
Hailed together, when I began to come apart, shaken
Even pushed out of place by shouting saints
Used for a coat rack, even a bed for sleepy children
Although I have experience all these things
I'm happy my place was in the house of God.
Here many have kneeled before me, praying to the Lord,
I've heard many weary souls calling on His name
And He has heard and answered them.
So I have no complaints, since I am getting old.
I feel that I have done my share, my only request...
When the new pews takes my place, try to remember
All the good services that I gave.
