The Mammon
I, Juno Moneta, am renowned, supreme,
Created by man, yet allocated by God's decree.
I remain, unchanging, as generations pass,
A constant presence, amidst life's fleeting pace.
My names are many, my abilities diverse,
Some say I bring calamity, others, prosperity and force.
Those who possess me are at war with the world,
While those without me know no peace, their lives unfurled.
I am the golden calf, shining bright and bold,
The standard of measure, in churches, my worth is told.
Kings and paupers alike, reverence my name,
Even in churches, I'm the goal, no longer a means to reclaim.
I am the root of evil, yet man can't resist,
My allure prolongs life, though I can't purchase it.
I bring happiness and suffering, searched for day and night,
Causing confusion, separation, and ambivalence in sight.
My name has shone since yesterday's dawn,
Guns and ammunitions fly, innocent lives are torn.
I drive people to choose occupations for gain,
Not passion, and media defends the rich, truth is vain.
Men have become wicked, nefarious, and cold,
Murdering for tokens, selling truth, buying justice to hold.
This is my legacy, I, Juno Moneta, have spoken.
