While I was walking hurriedly
The sun was coming up
Caught a glimpse of pinkish sky
And clouds moving away up high.
Then seemed to hear a voice there close
Said, "Slow down and smell the rose-
Don't go fast that you can't see
The many things which are so free."
As I passed the turn in the road
I felt a discard of a heavy load
While looking from side to side
Could see the road was very wide.
But or each side the grass was green
With wild flowers blooming to be seen
Then I heard the birds there singing
And farther along - a church bell ringing.
By then the sun was shining bright
My walk had been a pure delight.
